Fenva: Toward Tural

Standing on the docks of Limsa Lominsa, the tattooed huntress gazed up at the sailing-ship before her.

Not far away, a pair of burly Roegadyn sailors hefted heavy barrels onto their shoulders as if they were empty, and trudged up the ramp. A wife bid farewell to her husband, promising a swift return as soon as her business was concluded. A child chattered excitedly at his younger sister, ushered along by their parents.

"Quite the vessel, eh lass?"

Fenva peered to her left, where a Highlander had joined her to gaze toward the ship. He wore the coat and cap of a nautical captain, and even with the Viera's unfamiliarity with such things, it wasn't hard for her to deduce that he owned the vessel. A nod, and she offered a small smile. "Yes. Still not used to how big these ships are."

"Yer' from a tribe, I take it? Imagine you didn't see anythin' like this 'till ye left. Ye get used to it." The captain offered a genial grin. "Felt similar, the day I took command of 'er. Had served on ships like 'er before, but to captain one... 's a different feelin'."

Fenva nodded once more, and looked back to the ship. "Can believe this." A thoughtful pause, before she looked back to the Highlander. "Heard from workers. Going to Tu-- Tulli--" Her brow furrowed, the unfamiliar name complicating an already unfamiliar tongue.

"Tuliyollal, aye. Capital o' the kingdom with the same name. Made the journey a few times before, but more often now." Taking a half-step back to peer past Fenva toward the crew loading cargo, he smiled his approval before returning his attention to the Viera. "Know anythin' about it?"

"No." Fenva shook her head, with a matter-of-fact tone. She turned to face the captain, then. "But, want to go there. Would like to come with."

A brow lofted in surprise, and the man eyed her curiously. "That so?" A longer pause, as he stroked thoughtfully at his stubbled chin. "We're not totally full up on passenger space, so as long as ye' don't have too much luggage, we can squeeze ye' in. Can ye' pay?" The price he quoted was reasonable enough, but still rather high due to the length of the trip.

"No." Again, Fenva shook her head. "Do not have enough gil for this, so cannot pay. But can work. Am strong, can climb, and learn fast if someone can teach."

That earned a single loud laugh from the Highlander, with an amused grin. "Hah! Bold o' ye'. Normally we wouldn't take on crew on short notice. But, we're shorter o' hands than I'd like. So..." He looked her up and down as if sizing her up, before offering a nod. "How 'bout this. I'll warn that it's not easy work, and I won't be able to pay ye'. But if ye' don't mind a hammock with the rest o' the crew, work hard, and don't cause problems, yer' welcome to come along."

Fenva's smile broadened, and she offered a hand to the captain. "This sounds good. And-- my name is Fenva Aknesi. Will be happy to work with you!"

Her offer of a handshake is quickly returned in kind, firm and assertive. "Then, from 'er Captain Wolfsheart - welcome aboard the Sovereign, Fenva. Follow me; we'll get yer' things stowed and introduce ye' to the bosun, and put ye' to work. Hope yer' ready to lift some cargo on board, aye?"

"Think there is Eorzean saying for this - was born ready!" With a grin, the Viera hefted her pack back over her shoulders, fell into step beside the guffawing Captain as he led the way toward the ramp.
